Carnet de vélo : Reconnecter – Nathalie à Arundel, Laurentides

Bike Journal: Reconnecting – Episode 1: Discovering the Red River Bridge in Arundel, Quebec

For quite some time now, I've felt a deep desire to reconnect with the life I put on pause six years ago when Harrington was born and my business became my entire world. It's time to reconnect with nature before I become completely consumed by my screen.

Like many entrepreneurs, long days behind a desk have gradually taken their toll. A few extra pounds, less energy, and a body that doesn't move nearly as much as it once did. My Harrington journey continues to inspire me every day, but if I want to keep building it for years to come, I need to restore some balance.

The time has come to reclaim my well-being, slow down, and spend more time outdoors. Because life moves quietly, and time never waits.

So, I'm getting back on my bike.

A chance encounter with three cyclists who stopped by Harrington for a refreshing drink last Saturday was exactly the spark I needed. Thank you, Manon, your husband, and Claude! Listening to your stories reminded me why I used to love cycling so much.

Enough talking—let's ride.

For my very first outing, my freshly dusted-off bike led me to one of the hidden gems of the Laurentians: the Red River Bridge in Arundel, Quebec.

I'd forgotten the incredible feeling of freedom that comes from simply turning the pedals. The scent of wildflowers drifting through the air, birds singing from the trees, lush green landscapes, peaceful country roads, and the beauty of nature all around me awakened every one of my senses.

Apart from a little soreness above my knees—which quickly faded—I already can't wait for my next ride.

This officially marks the beginning of my cycling adventure across Quebec.

There's no race, no performance goals, and no mileage target. Just the simple pleasure of discovering scenic cycling routes, quiet back roads, hidden villages, rivers, forests, and breathtaking landscapes throughout our beautiful province. Wherever my pedals—and my curiosity—take me.

And hopefully, wherever your recommendations lead me.

Because I'd truly love to discover your favourite cycling routes in Quebec.

What are your favourite bike rides? Which roads, trails, or hidden gems should I explore next?

I hope our paths cross one day... and that I'll have the pleasure of offering you a refreshing Harrington along the way.
