Apple butter (family tradition)

Makes about 2 cups. (500ml)


15 organic McIntosh apples, washed, cored and quartered with the skin on

¼ cup (60 ml) maple syrup

½ tsp. 1/2 tsp (2.5 mL) ground cinnamon


  1. Fill slow cooker with apple wedges, maple syrup and cinnamon.
  2. Cook on "high" for 4 hours with the lid on.
  3. Remove the lid and continue cooking uncovered until the liquid has evaporated (about 2 hours).
  4. Mix everything in a blender to obtain a smooth and creamy texture.
